YO! In DAYS 3 AND 17 of the 28-DAY STEPUPS CHALLENGE we focus on what I refer to as the best hamstrings stretch in the game to alleviate lower back & hip pain. It will also help improve your deadlifting form and hip-hinging pattern.
This hip mobility drill is also great for bigger, taller trainees because elevating your leg on a box a la Captain Morgan gives you better leverage to improve joint positioning and make it more comfortable to stretch for longer.
This at home and office-friendly mobility challenge has 3 main benefits:
- Stretches the back/down leg in full hip extension (hip flexors)
- Stretches the front/top leg in hip flexion (hip-hinge pattern)
- Fixes imbalances between sides
Do at least 1 minute/side EHOH (Every Hour On-The Hour) for best results. You can also flow for 1-2 minutes/side for 10-20 straight minutes if you can't fit it in hourly.
